Wet Plate Collodion
Wet plate collodion, one of the earliest photographic processes, has experienced a recent resurgence of interest due to the beauty and uniqueness of the images created. In this workshop, participants will be guided step-by-step through the wet-plate collodion process: how to prepare glass, how to pour and sensitize collodion, properly expose and develop your plate, and apply a protective varnish. Students will shoot portraits or still life’s using Community Darkroom’s 4 X 5 cameras and tripods. We will be working in a darkroom with chemicals so please wear old clothing or an apron that you don’t mind staining.
