Mechanics of the Pot

Do your handles not handle so well? Do your spouts spit? Are your forms feeling frumpy? This hands-on workshop is designed to address issues of aesthetics and utility, or in other words, "how things look and how things work". Through discussion, demonstrations, and studio work we will delve into the mechanics of pottery. Handles, spouts, rims, and every possible appendage or form is open for exploration. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of not only the way things work, but how to make them look good doing it! (Some experience needed). Participants will need to supply their own tools and clay or purchase them from Genesee Pottery. There will be a break for lunch at noon and participants will be responsible for supplying their own meal. Firing is available for $1.85/lb.
