Into the Blue: the Art of the CyanotypeCommunity Darkroom :: Workshop :: Spring 2010 session | |
| Instructor(s): | Jenn Libby |
| Class Description: | The cyanotype, introduced by Sir John Herschel in 1842, was among the earliest photographic processes and was used by Anna Atkins to produce the world’s first photographically illustrated book. This printing-out process produces a rich, blue monochrome image. Participants will learn how to mix the chemicals and hand-coat a variety of substrate (paper and fabric) for contact printing. The class will explore different ways to create images with this process using objects to make photograms, as well as using different kinds of negatives. While supplies will be provided please feel free to bring objects and negatives (medium format and larger preferred) if you’d like. |
